Soma is a highly qualified artist from India. At a very young age her Talim was initiated by her Guruji, Shri Dilip Baran Sarkar of Serampore, West Bengal. After finishing her Bachelor's degree in Biology and receiving her degree of "Sangeet Visharad" from "Pracheen Kala Kendra,
Chandigarh," Soma went to "The New England Conservatory," Boston. Here
she received her Masters degree in Music Education. At the conservatory,
she learned proper Teaching Techniques and Curriculum Development from
some of the foremost Musicians and Music Educators of the world - Prof.
Lyle Davidson, Prof. Peter Row, Prof. George Ruckert and Prof. Warren
Sanders, to name a few.
Speciality in Early Childhood Teaching: A Professor
of Early Childhood Psychology and Education, Soma is trained to
understand and teach Hindustani Classical music to children in a loving
and child-friendly manner. Currently, children are learning this complex
form of music directly from Soma.
Professional Teacher Trainer (Adults): Soma is a trained "Teacher Trainer" for one of the leading Public School Systems in the state of Maryland. This gives her an edge to understand adult learning psychology and train them in becoming competent in their field of study.
